ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) Michigan coach John Beilein has agreed to a contract extension through the 2022-23 season.
The school said Wednesday the five-year deal automatically extends an additional year and repeats each year until either Beilein or the school decides not to renew. The 65-year-old Beilein has been at Michigan for 11 seasons and took the Wolverines to the national championship game in 2013 and 2018. Michigan lost to Louisville the first time and lost to Villanova earlier this year.
"I am thrilled to ensure John's leadership of our basketball program today and into the future," athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement. "I am very pleased with our shared dialogue throughout the process, and I am extremely happy that one of the game's great coaches is representing the University of Michigan."
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) Michigan State athletic director Bill Beekman's contract with the school runs through July 2023 and pays him a base salary of $750,000 a year.
The school released Beekman's employment agreement Wednesday, two days after announcing he would be Michigan State's athletic director going forward . Beekman had held that job on an interim basis since early February.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Austin Peay has hired longtime Duke athletic official Gerald Harrison as its athletic director.
Harrison has worked at Duke since 2008 and most recently held the position of senior associate dire tor of athletics/internal affairs. He replaces Ryan Ivey, who left to become Stephen F. Austin's athletic director.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Duke athletic director Kevin White will serve as the chairman of the NCAA Tournament selection committee in 2020.
The NCAA announced White's role Friday. White will serve as vice chairman this season for the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee headed by Stanford athletic director Bernard Muir, then take over for the 2019-20 season.
